I mentioned some Intel pricing data in class off the top of my head.
Here are some more accurate numbers from October.

450 Mhz Xeon with 1M L2 cache		$1,980 (quantity 1000)
450 Mhz Xeon with 512K L2 cache		$824 
450 Mhz Pentium II 512K L2 cache	$562
350 Mhz Pentium II			$213
333 Mhz Pentium II			$181

(The difference between Xeon and PentiumII is a 2X faster L2 cache)

You can see the very high premium that people are willing to pay
for the fastest parts.  

The article I was reading also says that Intel has phased out production
of all 0.28 micron parts, and everything is now 0.25 micron.  The
0.18 micron parts are supposed to start shipping in early 1999.
