The workshops will provide DOOD researchers an opportunity to present and discuss more recent work and focus on new areas of interest. Recent experience with workshops at the Logic Programming Conferences and Symposia, indicate that the proposed workshops will enrich the technical coverage of the DOOD'95 technical week and broaden the participation to the conference. In the first role, databases support the functions required for locating, authenticating, billing and providing administrative services to mobile users. In the second role, mobile access to databases, where the databases are fully or partially distributed across fixed and/or mobile sites, is an important emerging area, e.g. for applications such as mobile sales, personalized information services, and factory operations. There remain interesting database challenges, however, before the requirements and constraints imposed by mobile computing can be fully met. The research community has begun addressing these issues recently at several workshops and conferences.
